QUINTA D'AZINHEIRA belonged to Real Companhia Velha, then known as the General Company of the Alto Douro vineyards.
In 1977, Mr. Acácio Morais Mesquita acquired the farm for the family. He needed no introduction; he was a man of the Douro—a visionary for his time.
He loved having a house full of friends and acquaintances, telling stories, and working. After a few years, her daughter, Dora Mesquita, took over the entire project and continues it to this day.
Her love of wine and entertaining sparked her curiosity about the traditional food cooked in iron pots that give the Quinta its unique characteristics.
